HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Well, I had a bunch of posts I wanted to get in before the new year, but they’re going to have to wait I guess. I’ll have to do a “Things I forgot to post in 2006″ series.
I hope you all have fun tonight! We’re going to a get-together — I read on another blog […]Christmas Eve Pictures
Sigh. You get three kids dressed up, one husband ironed (and after the pants he planned to wear weren’t quite right, iron a second pair), yourself presentable and off to church. Then you sing for church — luckily the praise team sings on-mike but from the pew — while your 3-year-old son insists […]
Happy Holidays!
Well, it’s getting down to crazy time — rehearsal tomorrow am, in-laws flying in noonish, spend the afternoon with them, then Sunday morning church, Sunday afternoon gift opening here, Sunday night Christmas Eve Service (Both Squid and I, and the kids are performing), then up to Richmond, MI for the night so we can open […]
Swaddling Clothes
Quick, answer this question: What are swaddling clothes? Besides what Jesus was wrapped in according to the King James translation of the Bible. It’s birth cloths, right? What all babies of the time were wrapped in at birth, right? Well, it turns out, not so much. Just when you […]
We got her good!
Jasmine’s birthday is December 8. It’s a rough time of year to have a birthday — everyone’s calendars, including Mom and Dad’s, are filling up fast so it’s next to impossible to plan a party. Often we postpone her party until Christmas vacation, the week between Christmas and New Year’s, since her public-school […]
Christmas and Capitalism
Whatever else, this will make you think and feel. It made me feel a little defensive, a little guilty, and a little sick at the way we try to spend at Christmas. It also made me think that these boys are obviously scripted — but who cares! They’re so cute! (watch for the nose-picker!)
[kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/pwY1MLUbk5s” […]Math Genius? You decide.
Last night, Monkey Boy would NOT go to bed. I rocked, let him watch a little CSI with me, let him play with a few toys, and still he would not get tired! He was yawning, but fighting actual sleep with all his might. Normally I would just keep putting him […]
The gift that won’t stop giving
Amy over at Amy’s Humble Musings has some interesting insight into the character of a person. One of her observations,
I think you can tell a lot about a lady by how long she takes to get ready, what the inside of her microwave looks like, and if she regifts.
made me wonder just what you […]Review - Air Buddies
(Air Buddies was provided to me free of charge by Disney for the purpose of review.)
I have to admit, I don’t think I’ve seen any of the Air Bud movies all the way through. I saw bits of the first one, and it seemed cute enough, but it didn’t particularly grab me. That […]
Reviews, reviews, reviews
I really do have some other stuff to post, but I need to get some business done — for some reason, these folks want links before Christmas! I wonder why?
(Barnyard was provided to me free of charge by Special Ops Media for the purpose of review.)
Watching the trailers, I wasn’t that impressed — […]Nancy Drew and the Creature of Kapu Cave
(Nancy Drew and the Creature of Kapu Cave was provided to me free of charge by Special Ops Media for the purpose of review.)
I devoured Nancy Drew books as a kid. I remember they were kept upstairs at our little library, with the YA books. As a 3rd or 4th-grader, I felt […]
Mourning
Squid and I were on the team that sang for the funeral today. I’ve sung in many funerals, for people I knew very well and for those I knew not at all. This has to be the most difficult funeral I have ever sung for. I know this was not about […]
Grace in Tragedy
I know, I haven’t blogged in a few days. We’ve had some sadness, not personally, but at our church, and I’ve been hesitant to turn it into blog fodder. But today, I was treated with such grace, I just have to share.
Our youth minister recently resigned, about two months ago. I won’t […]
