Christmas and Capitalism
Whatever else, this will make you think and feel. It made me feel a little defensive, a little guilty, and a little sick at the way we try to spend at Christmas. It also made me think that these boys are obviously scripted — but who cares! They’re so cute! (watch for the nose-picker!)

December 14th, 2006 at 5:51 pmOh, yes, very scripted. The boys are adorable, though! It’s interesting. But actually “giving” is not uniquely human. It is very common for some animals (some monkeys/apes, some penguins, etc.) to give gifts. The difference is they (of course) don’t buy things in stores to give to their fellow animals.
