Mr. Right

Categories: Uncategorized |

First of all, let me apologize for being MIA for over a week AGAIN! We didn’t have internet until Monday, and then it was no-holds-barred around here to get time on the computer, lol! Anyway, in my catching-up, I found this meme at Pinnacles, Pitfalls, and Potty Chairs. I don’t brag on Squid enough, so I thought I’d bet some braggin’ done now.

MR. RIGHT

His age: 44, yep he was a cradle-snatcher!

How tall is he? 5’6″, exactly my height. And not at all intimidated by my wearing heels.

How long have you been together (married)? It will be 17 years in September.

How long did you know each other before you got together
? 2 years, almost exactly. We met the first week of school, 1988 and were married September 1, 1990. We dated for a little less than a year — on again/off again — then were engaged for 14 months.

What physical features attracted you to him first? His eyes, I think. The first time we met, we both thought “Cute, but not my type.” Good thing we got past that!

Eye color: Blue

Hair color: Once was sandy blonde, now steely grey

How did you meet? In the music building at Harding University. I was considering signing up to audition for a singing group that he was in. He told me I should try out.

How serious is it? After 17 years? Dead serious! (Except when we’re cracking each other up, of course!)

Are you “in love”? Ooooohhhhh, yeah.

Do your parents like him? My mother loves him! She tells anyone who will listen that she has the best son-in-laws in the world (I have 2 sisters).

Do his parents like you? Yes they do. I think sometimes they don’t know what to do with the freaky things I say, but overall they like me.

Do you trust him? Absolutely. No question.

Would you share a toothbrush with him? I have in an emergency.

Would he let you wear his pants
? When I was pregnant and didn’t have any maternity pants yet, he did!

Does he smoke or do drugs
? We both smoked when he was in a band just after college. He was the only non-drug-user in the band. As far as I know, he has never used.

Do you have a shirt of his that you sleep in
? Nope.

Do you like the way he smells? Depends. When he’s all showered, yes. When he’s not — not so much.

Can you picture having kids with him
? Picture 3! I think that’s going to be it unless God surprises us (again!).

What bothers you the most about him? When I’m talking and he suddenly breeaks into whatever song is in his head, as if I’m not even there. It feels like he’s ignoring me, but he always says he’s listening and usually does know what I was talking about. It still drives me nuts, though.

Does he have a temper? Yes, but it’s pretty Irish — not easily triggered, blows hard, then is gone.

Are you happy to be with him? Absolutely!

Does he embarrass you in public? Whenever possible!!! Nah, not really that much. We both like to laugh at ourselves and aren’t too easily embarassed.

Does he have any piercings? He does have a pierced ear, but hasn’t worn an earring in years. He wore it back the The Band days, but as he’s gotten older, I think he may have decided it was just too Harrison Ford.

Does he have any scars that you know of? He’s a hands-on worker, so yes. One in particular, across his big toe, something about dropping a glass on his foot as a kid or something like that.

Is he a party dude or stay at home? He likes to be with people, but not a big partier. More of a “Let’s go hang out with those people we like” kind of guy.

Is he outgoing or shy? Extremely outgoing.

Does he love his mama? Yes

Would he hang out with you and your friends
? Most of our friends are mutual friends, so yes.

Sing? Can he ever!!! I always said I wouldn’t be able to marry a man who couldn’t sing, and rarely dated guys who couldn’t. He sang “You Were There All Along” to me at our wedding, and we sang “All I Ask of You” from Phantom together. He’s always sung with a music group, usually 5 or 6-man a capella, ever since we were in school. If he weren’t too “old”, he’d definitely be an American Idol contendor. I’m not just saying that because I love him, either!

I love him so much! It’s one of those things — it seems like only yesterday we met, and it also seems like a lifetime. I can’t really remember not being with him. He works so stinking hard to take care of us, and works equally hard to be the spiritual leader in our family. I know he doubts himself at times, but he really is awesome!

WOW! You talk about positive feedback….this is tremendous. After all these years to feel that way is something so special. I knew when I first met him that he was a “keeper” and so did you. He is also a fantastic father to my grandkids. My best to both of you.

How wonderful! Thanks for giving us a little peak at your man! In a world where griping out weighs compliments, it is good to get the positives out there!

Is this a new look or do I just not remember it? I like it a lot. It looks like one my Mr. Right made for me before the hackers killed it.
