Little Dresses for Africa
One of the ladies at our church went to Malawi, Africa just before Christmas and was just overwhelmed by everything there — the poverty, AIDS, children dying, and yet so much faith in God and love for others. She was struck by how devalued women and girls are in that culture and thought that little dresses for the little girls might be a nice thing for them to have. They need so much that dresses almost seem paltry, but it is something I can do. Here’s some pictures from our sewing bee last night. The overall goal is 1000 dresses. Our church and at least a couple of others are working on them. I think we got 10 or so done last night, and we all took home materials to make more. The simplest, fastest ones to do were pillowcase dresses. Jasmine and Pink Pixie modelled for us, and actually want some of their own!

How funny that we are doing the same thing at the same time, eh?
I love the idea of pillowcase dresses, I have heard they are so easy! Best wishes on reaching your goal of 1000, that is wonderful! I love the idea of putting a smile on a little girls face by giving her a dress or a skirt!

This is something I can do to!
Ron and I have often talked about just going over there (somewhere, anywhere) so we can help.

thanks for highlighting Little Dresses. I have a couple of groups outside the state that have taken up the cause and are working with us, so our “hands” are multiplied! If anyone wants information on how to get a group started at your church or in your community, let me know. I will arrange to get the dresses shipped to Africa through Save the Orphans Ministries, since that seems to be the biggest obstacle to overcome. Thanks everyone for your encouragement. Your sisters are connected through HIM once again and in a very cool way!
