3-year-olds Rock!
You know, I spend too much time comparing Monkey Boy to the girls at his age and concluding that, as a boy, he’s way behind them. But while he doesn’t talk incessantly like they did then, he doesn’t take second place (or third) in imagination. Take, for instance, bedtime tonight:
Mommy: Monkey Boy! Settle down, it’s time for bed.
MB: No, it’s daytime.
Mommy: No, it’s night time. See, the sun has gone to bed.
MB: No, he’s checkin’ his e-mail. In his home.
Mommy: Really? The sun isn’t in bed, he’s checking e-mail at home?
MB: Yep. With his wife. (I didn’t even know he knew the word wife — he usually says mommy instead)
Mommy: Oh, yeah? The sun has a wife, huh? Does he have kids too?
MB: Yep. Sunkids.
Mommy: Really?
MB: (Pretty much not waiting for Mommy’s response) There’s a brother. He’s a big boy. But not a man.
Mommy: Does he have brothers and sisters?
MB: Yeah. Stisters.
Mommy: What are their names?
MB: Cano and Cano. (This is the name of his constant imaginary companion)
Mommy: Really? They’re girls? ‘Cause I thought Cano was a boy’s name.
MB: One’s a boy and one’s a girl.
Mommy: Oh, OK. Well, there’s the end of our song (on the CD).
MB: Time to get in bed?
Mommy: Yep.
MB: OK
Mommy: Who are you and what have you done with my Monkey Boy? (no, not really, but I was thinking it — he usually fights getting into bed!)
I just loved the way he had the answer immediately for everything I asked, he didn’t even think about it. Kids just rock!

Isn’t this amazing!!! Just when “doom, dispair and agony” set in, God sends you his message through little Monkey Boy! He is really working through that little mind of your son. He’s tellng you that you never know where His blessings are going to appear, so keep an eye and ear out for these wonderful moments.

How adorable! I can’t even recall all the conversations that my son and I have had over the last year where he uses his complex imagination to say things like this. That story was so cute! What a great kid you are raising.
SUNI! Are you the Suni from the Donna Young boards? Surely there’s not more than one Suni from Down Under in the web-o-sphere!!
