Well, we did it.
. . . and I survived!
The girls started school today. Boy, I never thought I’d be typing that sentence, at least not for a great while yet. They were so excited, although Pink Pixie kept waffling as to whether she was really up for it or not. I’m noticing so many little things about their personalities now that they’re going off that hadn’t really registered before. Or maybe it’s that I knew them and just dealt with them, and now I worry about how the teacher and other kids will deal with them.
I guess I’m feeling OK about this. I’m not as angsty anyway, just wishing I could have found another way to make this work. But short of guaranteeing I’d stay on track with a curriculum AND keep up the house AND dealing with a new baby, that just wasn’t going to happen right now. So, here we are. It’s just a season, I keep telling myself. We’re not stuck with it, we’re not married to it.

And of course Monkey Boy had to get into the fray as well, dino jammies and all (he did end up with shoes on by the time we got to school!):

I know it’s hard, but the purpose of homeschooling is to do what is best for our children. Right now it is best for them to go to public school.

Really looks like the girls are starting off good. I guess Monkey Boy is going to be happy, having Mom all to himself for a change! It won’t take you too long to get into a new routine. Try to get some rest during the day, cause you need it.
