I’m not a Scrooge, really!

Pink Pixie just informed me that Christmas is in eight days.  Do you know how many gifts I have bought?  Zero, Zilch, Nada.  We just put up the tree yesterday.  This season has been woefully neglected in this house this year!  We did manage to do Jasmine’s birthday — however, as you see, I also neglected to blog it.  (Note to self, do that tonight.)

Luckily, we only do one gift per child, and the girls don’t believe in Santa, so only Monkey Boy will get a Santa gift.  We still haven’t decided for sure what to get them, although those Sansa Shakers are definitely in the running for the girls.  Monkey Boy will be delighted with any Transformer, Spiderman, Ben 10, or Hot Wheels toy.  He really wants the Darth Vader/Death Star Transformer, but we haven’t seen one in a store yet.  That’s what we get for waiting so late.

The girls have already opened their cards from the grandparents — cold, hard cash was the gift of choice this year and they are ecstatic!  I’ve told them they MUST make a list, price out what they want, and decide what they are going to buy BEFORE we go to a store.  I will not wander Target with a 7yo and 9yo who each have $70 to blow.  Not. gonna. happen.  It took them two hours to spend a $15 Target gift card last year!

I also just realized that I do not have a holiday dinner planned nor bought for.  I’ll have to discuss it with Squid — does he want ham or turkey?  Or shall we just have finger foods and nosh all day?  That’s what we do with his family when we go, but this year we’re just chillin’ at home with the baby.   Squid has to work Christmas Eve, but is off Christmas day this year!  We never know until a week before or so if he’ll be working — the full-timers get priority if they want the day off.  Of course, this year it’s not as much that he wants it off as the fact that they have majorly cut his hours.

Well, guess that’s all I have to say for now.  Except . . . OK, the snow can stop now.  6-12 inches blowing is plenty.  Pretty but should be cleared enough to get around in a day or so.  Any more is just too much of a pain!!!

I’m in the same boat (and I don’t have a newborn to blame ;) ). Andrea and I are planning on going Tuesday night to do most of our shopping.

You have the perfect excuse for not Christmas shopping! If I had a new baby at home, I wouldn’t be out shopping either :)

You are right about the snow — I went out four times to shovel today! My back could only take so much at a time! Ack!

The two older kids are off school tomorrow, so they will be going to the co-op with Em! They get to see what HER ’school’ is like!
